Ultima Online Turns 29: Livestream & New Legacy Season 2 News

Ultima Online is celebrating 29 years online with a livestream and fresh details on New Legacy Season 2, as Broadsword looks back on an MMO that outlasted expectations.

Can you imagine an MMO that was only supposed to last a few years still going strong nearly three decades later? That's exactly where Ultima Online finds itself, and Broadsword is marking the occasion in style.

The legendary sandbox MMORPG is celebrating 29 years of continuous operation, a milestone that very few online worlds ever come close to touching. As the studio itself put it, what was only supposed to last a few years has endured for 29 — and that kind of longevity is only possible with a dedicated community keeping the world alive.

To celebrate, Broadsword is hosting a livestream, giving veterans and curious newcomers alike a chance to look back on the journey while also peeking at what's next. It's a fitting way to honor a game that helped define the entire MMORPG genre back in the day.

Alongside the retrospective vibes, the team is sharing new details about New Legacy Season 2. If you've been following Ultima Online's modern seasonal content, you know New Legacy is a big part of how the game keeps things fresh for players who have seen it all.

Let's be honest: most MMORPGs can only dream of a tail this long. Plenty of ambitious online games have launched and shut down in the time Ultima Online has been running, which makes 29 years feel less like luck and more like a genuine achievement.

So whether you're a longtime Britannian who remembers the early days or someone who's never set foot in Sosaria, this anniversary is a nice reminder of just how much staying power a well-loved MMO can have. The livestream and New Legacy Season 2 details are the main draws, so keep an eye out if you want the full rundown.
