Summer Pockets Is Getting a Brand-New Visual Novel in 2026
Key has announced Summer Pockets Sunnyside Stories, a romance visual novel compilation coming to PC in Japan on December 18, 2026, adapting the 2018 web short stories plus new content.
Remember those Summer Pockets short stories that lived on the official website back in 2018? They're finally getting the full visual novel treatment.
Key has officially announced Summer Pockets Sunnyside Stories, a visual novel romance compilation heading to PC in Japan on December 18, 2026. If you've been waiting for an excuse to revisit that sun-soaked island life, this is it.
The project adapts the Summer Pockets short stories that were originally published on the official website back in 2018, giving them a proper home in game form. But it's not just a straight port of old material — the release also adds brand-new content created specifically for this compilation. So even if you read every single one of those web stories years ago, there's something fresh waiting for you.
The original short-story collection was published as Summer Pockets Short Story: Natsu no Mabushisa, which fans of the franchise will recognize as a familiar piece of the series' extended universe. Sunnyside Stories looks set to bundle that material together with the new additions into one package.
For now, the announcement is specifically for a PC launch in Japan on December 18, 2026. There's no word yet on whether the game will make its way to the West or show up on other platforms, so fans outside Japan will have to keep their fingers crossed and stay tuned.
Still, it's a nice bit of news for visual novel fans who have been following Key's work. Summer Pockets has built a dedicated following over the years, and getting more of its world in a proper game release is exactly the kind of thing that keeps the community excited. A 2026 date might feel far off, but at least there's now something concrete on the calendar to look forward to.
So, are you hoping Sunnyside Stories gets an English release? And which Summer Pockets short story are you most excited to see adapted? Let us know in the comments.
