Assassin's Creed Syndicate DLSS 5 Footage Looks Almost Too Real
A new 40-second clip shows Assassin's Creed Syndicate running with DLSS 5 and ray tracing, and the Victorian London streets look almost photorealistic.
You know that feeling when a game screenshot makes you do a double take because you're not sure if it's real life or not? That's exactly what's happening with Assassin's Creed Syndicate right now.
Over on the gaming outlet Game Unlocked, a fresh gameplay video has surfaced showing Ubisoft's 2015 open-world title running with DLSS 5 enabled. The clip runs about 40 seconds and follows the game's twin protagonists as they parkour their way across the streets of London. It's short, but it definitely leaves an impression.
According to the video's details, the footage was captured using 2x DLSS 5 along with ray tracing turned on. The results are pretty striking. Buildings, streets, and the way light and shadow play across the scene all get a noticeable boost, and what was once a fairly standard-looking last-gen release now has an almost live-action quality to it. Watching the two leads dart between street level and the rooftops honestly looks more like a period drama shot on location than a game from a decade ago.
For anyone who missed it the first time around, Assassin's Creed Syndicate launched back in 2015 as a proper entry in the series. It takes place in 1868 London during the Industrial Revolution, throwing you into the middle of a power struggle between the Assassins and the Templars in the city's criminal underworld.
What makes Syndicate stand out is its dual-protagonist setup. You play as twins Jacob and Evie Frye, and you can swap between them on the fly. Jacob leans into straight-up brawling and frontline combat, while Evie is built more for stealth and quiet assassinations. That flexibility gave the game a nice bit of variety depending on how you like to play.
It's worth keeping in mind that this is a fan-shared showcase rather than an official remaster announcement, so don't go expecting a patch to drop tomorrow. Still, it's a fun look at how far the tech has come and what older titles can look like with modern upscaling and lighting thrown at them.
Would you replay Syndicate if it got a visual glow-up like this, or are you holding out hope for a full remake instead? Let us know in the comments.
