Witcher 3 Remastered Patch Fixes Overly Bright Lighting

CD Projekt Red has released a new patch for The Witcher 3 Remastered that addresses the game's overly bright lighting on consoles and Xbox Play Anywhere. A PC hotfix for a save game issue is also in the works.
Have you noticed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered looks a little too bright? You're not alone. CD Projekt Red has acknowledged the issue and released a new patch to fix it.
The remaster launched for free earlier this week, and it didn't take long for players to start debating whether the visual changes were an improvement. One of the biggest complaints? The game was excessively bright, washing out the dark, gritty atmosphere that made the original so memorable. It seems CDPR agrees that they went too far.
The new patch is available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Play Anywhere version of the game on PC. According to the patch notes, it makes "various lighting adjustments" across the game, including fixing some interiors that appeared too dark. It also fixes an issue where DLSS was unavailable in the Xbox Play Anywhere version on PC, and makes other adjustments to ensure parity with the PC version.
Interestingly, the patch isn't being released for other PC versions. That's likely because the fix centers around the game's bloom setting—a setting PC players have suggested turning off to regain contrast. Consoles didn't have that toggle, but this patch likely toggles it off for all console players. However, if you're playing on Nintendo Switch 2, you won't benefit from the fix just yet.
But the bloom setting doesn't fix everything. Players have also taken issue with the game's HDR implementation, path tracing visual presentation, and overall system performance on PC. CD Projekt Red hasn't commented on whether it plans to address those areas, but this patch shows they're aware of the most glaring issues.
The Witcher 3 Remastered released as a free update for all versions of the game, introducing enhanced character animations, world detail, improved combat and role-playing systems, and more. And there's more to come: an expansion for the 11-year-old game, Songs of the Past, is scheduled for 2027 and will tie into The Witcher 4, which is currently in development.
What do you think of the remaster's visual changes? Have you noticed the brightness issue? Let us know in the comments!
