SEGA's Stranger Than Heaven Collector's Edition Shames GTA 6

SEGA and RGG Studio revealed the $129.99 Stranger Than Heaven Collector's Edition, which includes the game and a vinyl record, drawing praise from fans comparing it to GTA 6's $400 edition without a game.
SEGA and RGG Studio just showed everyone how a collector's edition should be done. Today they revealed the full details for the Stranger Than Heaven Collector's Edition, and it's priced at $129.99 — and yes, it actually comes with the game.
The package includes a physical copy of the game for Xbox Series X|S or PS5, a 12-inch exclusive vinyl record featuring the main theme and original tracks, and an exclusive art SteelBook. It launches alongside the game on January 15, 2027.
That might not sound revolutionary, but in 2026 it kind of is. Compare that to GTA 6's collector's edition, which costs $400 and doesn't include the game. Yeah, you read that right. Fans certainly noticed.
The reaction online was almost instant. The comments section flooded with praise for SEGA, and nearly every message compared it to Rockstar's controversial offering. "This is what GTA 6 should have done," one player wrote. Another added, "This is genuinely the first collector's edition I've ever wanted to buy."
Others were more blunt. "Thank you, well done! @RockstarGames should be ashamed. They represent everything wrong with the game industry right now." Another fan pointed out the obvious: "SEGA putting the game in the special edition is a god-tier move." And one summed it up perfectly: "This is how a collector's edition should be done. Not like Rockstar's overpriced nonsense."
There was also a sense of disbelief. "Imagine it's 2026 to 2027 and a special edition that includes the game actually gets praised..." one comment read. Another praised the timing: "Perfect timing, great job SEGA marketing team! Looks amazing, this is how you do marketing!"
The vibe is clear: Stranger Than Heaven's collector's edition hits the sweet spot with a fair price, solid contents, and the game itself. It taps directly into growing frustration over how special editions are priced and what they include.
Stranger Than Heaven launches on January 15, 2027, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It'll also be available on Xbox Game Pass day one.
So, what do you think? Is this the collector's edition you've been waiting for, or are you still holding out for something else? Let us know in the comments.
