Professor Layton and the New World of Steam Adds Mandarin Voice Acting
LEVEL-5 confirms its upcoming adventure game will include Mandarin Chinese voiceovers alongside Japanese, English, French, and more when it launches in December 2026.
Great news for Professor Layton fans who prefer to play in their native tongue. LEVEL-5 has officially confirmed that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will feature Mandarin Chinese voice acting when it arrives on December 10, 2026.
The studio shared the full voice language lineup in response to player questions. Beyond Mandarin, the game will offer Japanese, American English, British English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Korean audio options. That's a seriously impressive spread for a puzzle-adventure title.
For those unfamiliar with the developer, LEVEL-5 is a Japanese studio with a solid pedigree. It previously worked with Sony on first-party PlayStation titles like White Knight Chronicles and Jeanne d'Arc, so there's plenty of experience behind this one.
The team also gave a quick progress update. According to the official statement, the project crew is pushing hard on final preparations ahead of release, with more news promised down the line. They also thanked fans for their patience and continued support.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is set to launch on PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch. With the voice cast now locked in, it's clear LEVEL-5 is aiming to make the game accessible to a wide global audience.
