Nintendo Responds to GTA 6 on Switch 2 Rumors: "Nothing to Announce"

Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard says GTA 6 on Switch 2 is a matter for Take-Two and Rockstar, and there's nothing to announce right now.
Will GTA 6 ever land on the Switch 2? Nintendo has finally given us a straight answer — sort of.
In an interview with Variety, Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard was asked point-blank whether GTA 6 would be coming to the Switch 2. Her response? "That's a matter between Take-Two and Rockstar, but as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing to announce at this time."
So no confirmation, no denial — just the classic corporate "we're not saying anything yet." If you were hoping for a surprise reveal, you'll have to keep waiting.
It's worth remembering that Rockstar has never been a huge supporter of Nintendo platforms. Only a handful of its games have made the jump over the years, like the GTA Trilogy and Red Dead Redemption. Red Dead Redemption 2, meanwhile, still isn't playable on any Nintendo console to this day.
Given that track record, it's pretty safe to assume Rockstar is putting all its energy into the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions first. A PC release would likely follow after that, and even if a Switch 2 port does happen somewhere down the line, it would almost certainly be at the back of the queue.
None of this is exactly shocking. GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of the biggest launches in gaming history, and Rockstar tends to focus on the platforms with the largest install bases before branching out. Nintendo's hardware has always been a secondary consideration for the studio.
That said, the Switch 2 is a much more capable machine than its predecessor, so a port isn't completely off the table forever. It's just not something Nintendo is ready to talk about — and honestly, they probably couldn't confirm it even if they wanted to, since the decision ultimately sits with Take-Two and Rockstar.
For now, all we can do is wait and see. Would you actually play GTA 6 on a Switch 2, or would you rather experience it on a more powerful console? Let us know in the comments.
