GTA 6 Preorders Crush Call of Duty by 148%, Could Be Biggest Launch Ever
Sensor Tower data shows GTA 6 digital preorders in the US are 148% higher than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at the same point, with 6.08 million copies and $594 million in revenue.
GTA 6 isn't out yet, but it's already breaking records. According to GamesIndustry, fresh data from Sensor Tower reveals that preorders for Rockstar's next blockbuster are absolutely massive—and they're leaving other recent AAA giants in the dust.
The stats compare US digital preorders for GTA 6 against other huge releases at the same point before launch, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Diablo 4, Hogwarts Legacy, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The result? GTA 6 is currently tracking 148% higher than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was at the same stage.
As of October 13, GTA 6 has racked up 6.08 million digital preorders, translating to an estimated $594 million in revenue. That's a staggering amount of money before the game even hits shelves.
Platform-wise, PlayStation is leading the charge with 74% of preorders, while Xbox takes the remaining 26%. It's worth noting that these numbers only cover digital preorders in the US—physical copies aren't included in the tally.
If this trend holds, GTA 6 is well on its way to delivering the biggest launch in gaming history. Multiple analysts have already shared optimistic forecasts for the game's first-year sales, and this preorder data only adds fuel to that fire.
With hype at an all-time high, it's clear players are ready to dive back into Leonida. Are you one of the millions who've already locked in a copy? Let us know in the comments!
