Cyberpunk 2077 Third-Person Mod Finally Makes It Playable Your Way

A fan-made mod called Immersive Third-Person Mod now lets you play all of Cyberpunk 2077 in third person, despite CD PROJEKT RED previously saying it wouldn't work.
Remember when CD PROJEKT RED said third-person just wouldn't work for Cyberpunk 2077? Well, a modder just proved them wrong. Nearly six years after launch, you can now experience the whole game from a whole new angle.
The mod is called Immersive Third-Person Mod, and it's the work of creator CybrDrake over on Nexus Mods. It first popped up last month, but the real game-changer arrived with the recent 2.0.0 update.
So what's new in 2.0.0? Quite a lot, actually. You get a full custom animation set for male V, fresh animations for female V, auto-vaulting while sprinting, head tracking during NPC conversations, and even English lip-sync. The first-person and third-person animations are completely separate, so you can switch back to first-person anytime and get the exact same experience as the vanilla game. The third-person side uses its own animation set, similar to how games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Starfield handle it. Right now, pretty much every world interaction works fine in third person—except for combat.
For a chunk of players, this mod is a big deal. Cyberpunk 2077 has always been first-person only, and CD PROJEKT RED previously explained that a third-person view would lose the immersion that defines the game. Some folks just couldn't get into it because of that perspective. With the mod in its current state, those players can now fully experience the game in third person.
It's a cool reminder of what the modding community can pull off. CD PROJEKT RED might have thought third-person was impossible, but CybrDrake clearly had other ideas. The mod is available now on Nexus Mods, so if you've been holding off on Cyberpunk 2077 because of the first-person view, this might be your chance to dive in.
What do you think—would you give Night City a try in third person, or does first-person feel like the only way to play? Let us know in the comments!
